The Bulb Collection

Luke Nelson

The first two photos in this collection were part of a photography class assignment where we were introduced to the “Bulb” setting on our cameras. I went outside, set my camera up on a tripod, and had my mom hold a line of Christmas lights and swing them in a circular motion. I then set the camera to the Bulb setting and held the shutter door open for about 3-7 seconds. The longer I held the door open, the more the lights blended into each other.

The last four photos in this collection I did a couple days ago just for fun. This time, I held one end of the string right next to the camera and had my mom hold the other end and swing it in a circular motion, kind of like a jump rope.
