In my photography class, my teacher asked us to take photos using window patterns created by sunlight leaking through, and I decided my subject was going to be a candle. But as I was completing the assignment, I started just taking photos of the candle for fun and got some really cool pictures. You may think that these first three photos were taken at nighttime, but they weren’t. The camera metered for the brightest reflective light, which darkened the backdrop of the photograph. Plus, I went into Photoshop and darkened the background a little more.
