My heart lies in the city where the sun doesn’t rise,
Where beasts of metal race through the night,
Where shadows drift through the sweet scent of nicotine,
Where flashing colored lights sear the eyes,
Where concrete monoliths glare down at the masses in indifference,
Where crooked roads twist and turn in never-ending spirals,
Where blood and sweat and grime cake the cobbled ground and line the broken fingernails.
My city of chaos,
Where my quiet life will surely dissolve,
And where the only way is forward;
Movement, fluidity,
And where the lust for something more never ceases.
My city of night,
Will I lose my mind in the maze,
Or will I be reborn a new machine?
